Employee Surveys

CUNA's HR Council and the Business Insights Group have developed a special discounted Web-based Employee Survey program specifically designed for Credit Unions.

The purpose of this Survey is to:

  • reduce employee turnover
  • increase productivity
  • improve CU member satisfaction through increased employee morale
  • foster effective and safe communications between the management team and the workforce
  • help the credit union's HR professionals indentify and respond to workforce issues

Our goal is to provide client Credit Unions with specific actionable feedback, in an environment of safe participation and confidence, based on our CU-specific experience, using web technology for an efficient process.

Our Credit Union Employee Survey is available in three formats:

  • a standard CU survey developed in conjunction with CUNA's HR-Council, which we recommend to smaller CU's who are doing their first survey. This baseline survey is updated annually to include some of the best questions we develop among all our clients.
  • a semi-customized CU survey is our standard survey for medium- and large-CU's, with five additional questions that the CU wants to implement to explore areas of concern. This survey also includes an inter-department feedback section to address internal customer satisfaction issues.
  • a customized CU survey, drawing on our range of survey questions and focusing on particular issues that you want to research within your employee groups. Customized surveys can take advantage of response sensitive structures, in which the sequence of questions presented to an employee will vary based on their group, location, or tenure.

You can choose to sort your responses based on Location, Function, Tenure, or any parameters you prefer. The process uses both multiple-choice responses and open-ended text responses.

All of our surveys involve "net promoter" questions. Recognising that internal stakeholder issues affect employee satisfaction, we've included "inter-department" feedback sections - using both multiple-choice and free text items - in both our semi-customized and customized surveys.

One particularly effective aspect of a web-based customized survey is that the sequence of questions delivered to the participant can change based on previous responses. With response sensitive structures based on a tenure question, new employees will see questions about employee orientation and training, while veteran employees will see questions about community charters or the sales culture. The survey proceeds among the topics like a flow chart. In another application, you might ask managers questions about culture and communication, and ask front-line employees about how well the CU's strategy is being executed in member interactions.

With a dataset built with years of credit union surveys, we deliver a comparison of your results to the larger population of other credit unions, adding overall CU context to your results.

You'll receive results three business days after the survey collection closes, which is a significant improvement from paper-based surveys that take a snapshot of the culture and then return the developed picture a month or two later. We strive to avoid information overload when we provide results, so each reviewing level - the Board and CEO, or the Springfield Branch Manager, will have an Overview, a Summary, a statistical report, and a text-based report.

Survey results are tailored for rapid dissemination through the CU's management team. For the Board, CEO, and senior leadership team, you will receive an Executive Overview, a more detailed Executive Summary, and a Strategic Comparison of your CU's scores compared to other CU results.

Each reporting segment (department, tenure group, etc) receives their own web reports - containing a top-level overview, a detailed quanititative report, and the open-text responses from that group. Although each segment sees only their own results, our "Snapshot" view compares the department's responses with the overall population's. Each segment report includes advice on communicating results and developing action plans.
